Compass Technology Solutions is currently seeking a highly skilled Junior Network Analyst with the drive and determination to help us support our client base. We are looking for an individual who is a problem-solver to successfully address challenging user computing issues and is accustomed to leveraging technical training opportunities to improve their skills.

Our Junior Network Analyst is responsible for maintaining user uptime and improving their computing experiences through effective remote monitoring, maintenance, problem identification and resolution activities, as well as growing and developing our company’s perception with existing customers through exceptional customer service. Candidates must be energetic and focused with a strong motivation to learn new technologies, management and maintenance processes.

This position requires dedication, persistence, follow-up, effective utilization of provided resources and exceptional customer service. Our Junior Network Analyst will identify user problems and work within a structured problem management and resolution process to remediate them within established SLAs. This position involves working with other resources and vendors to deliver effective support services.

Responsibilities include identifying, documenting and troubleshooting user and network computing issues to resolution and maintaining customer satisfaction. Job duties include utilizing our remote monitoring and management (RMM) and professional services automation (PSA) solutions along with other service-specific tools and technologies to deliver remote user support services and update service request information, answer technical support calls, assign ticket severity, prioritize work accordingly, and collaborate and work with other staff and vendor support resources to resolve issues. Overall relationship management and the ability to coordinate required resources to respond to complex IT requirements are desired. Other requirements include participating in ongoing training and attainment of manufacturer certifications, developing and maintaining relationships with user and vendor contacts, and preparing and presenting service and monitoring reports to management regularly.

Minimum Qualifications

The applicant should have experience in an IT environment with a range of skills including:

  • Graduate of Information Technology in the past 5 years
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Operating systems (Vista, Windows 7,8,10)
  • PC hardware and software configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Network Printer setup and troubleshooting
  • PC Imaging and Setup
  • Antivirus suite configuration and maintenance
  • Basic Networking / Cabling
  • Valid Driver’s License & Vehicle
  • Strong communication & documentation skills
  • Knowledge of policy, procedures and controls
  • Mobile Device Support – Blackberry, Android, Apple IOS devices
  • Remote troubleshooting / Remote tools – TeamViewer, LogmeIn etc
  • Windows Servers, DHCP, Active Directory, DNS
  • Cisco – Routers , Switches
  • HTML/Web design
  • Linux

Personally, I have been running Windows 10 as a member of the Microsoft Insiders group for several months now, and feel its an excellent upgrade over Windows 8. It combines all the good of Windows 7 and 8 in one system. We can perform this upgrade for you including one year of Compass Managed Antivirus for $99.99 plus tax on eligible computers. If you want to tackle it yourself here are a few tips to ensure you are ready for your upgrade!

 

     1. Make sure your hardware is ready for the upgrade

If your computer is running Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 today, odds are very good that it will run Windows 10. The minimum hardware requirements include

  • Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor or SoC
  • RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) for 32-bit or 2 GB for 64-bit
  • Hard disk space: 16 GB for 32-bit OS 20 GB for 64-bit OS
  • Graphics card: DirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver
  • Display: 800×600

The graphics card is key. If your card is not capable of DirectX 9 or later, Windows 10 won’t run.

    2. Run Windows Update and patch everything

Before beginning the upgrade to 10, make sure your current operating system is fully patched. The easiest way to do that is run Windows Update, and install everything it offers, even the optional stuff.

    3. Make sure your third party software is also up to date

Just as important is to update all your applications. Historically, some vendors have been slow to update applications to work with the new version of Microsoft operating systems at release. They have had Windows 10 available to them for months, but that is often not enough. If you have any apps that you can’t live without, check the vendors’ support sites to confirm they work with Windows 10 before you upgrade.

   4. Check your peripherals

Check out the manufacturers’ websites for any key piece of external hardware, like your printers, scanners, web cams, network cards, and video cards to confirm that they have drivers for Windows 10.    

   5. BACK UP YOUR DATA!

Upgrading to Windows 10 should work without issues…but it’s still an upgrade. Better safe than sorry is the way to go here, so back up any core data you must have before you begin, just in case.
